Civilisational stakes

The human climate niche is shifting northward.

More than 600 million people already live outside the human climate niche. On the current policy trajectory, 2.1 to 3.7 billion people could be left outside it by 2080-2100. The niche peaks around 13°C mean annual temperature, the zone of southern Canada.

Canada is the second largest country on Earth by land, with roughly 40 million people and one of the lowest population densities among developed nations. As temperature zones move north and southern landmass constrains the alternatives, Canada faces significant population-influx pressure over the coming decades.

Foundation

Regulatory clarity, the first financed nodes online, and proven unit economics. The protocol deploys on an EVM L2; the first enterprise compute contracts validate demand.

H2 10-30 years

Network effect and supply-chain independence

Thousands of nodes create aggregate demand large enough to justify domestic procurement and chip packaging. Canada begins to supply its own equipment; government becomes a compute customer.

H3 30-50 years

Vertical integration and economic sovereignty

From distributed nodes to sovereign manufacturing: full integration from generation through silicon, with a sovereign compute standard exported to allied nations.

The settlement foundation

Energy and compute, co-located, as the foundation for the Canada that is arriving.

Small modular reactors are designed for off-grid power in remote and northern communities. Co-locate that generation with compute and you get self-sufficient settlements: economically viable through compute revenue, positioned where climate migration will drive future growth, and contributing sovereign AI capacity from distributed northern nodes.

Climate physics drives population north; Canada must build infrastructure where people will live; energy-and-compute co-location is the economic foundation; distributed participation mobilises the capital; blockchain is the accounting that makes it verifiable.
